After less than a year, cracks are already appearing in the concrete
pedestrian walkways in the $1.5 billion city-subsidized Yankee
Stadium. The company that poured the concrete, Interstate Industrial
Corporation, is currently starring in the trial of former Giuliani
Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik.
[And all this is happening under Bloomberg's mayoral watch!
"City-subsidized"
means it is being done with OUR TAX MONEY! What other corrupt practices
under the Bloomberg administration have we yet to learn of?]
Kerik, who was the Giuliani-recommended candidate for Chairman of
Homeland Security, accepted $165,000 in renovations on his Riverdale
apartment from the DiTomasso brothers, the principals of Interstate,
in return for recommending them for city contracts they were barred from.
Famously Giuliani-friendly Yankees management gave Interstate a
contract for the new Yankee Stadum, despite their appearance on both
NJ and NY lists of companies with ties to organized crime.
At the time, Giuliani, who later made his crusade to clear organized
crime out of New York an issue in his presidential campaign, said he
didn't know about Interstate's issues (which didn't comfort Senator
McCain at all).
