Sometimes it's just better for the perps to "mysteriously disappear"
when they visit a certain location.

Cops tend to have some dark humor, but some of these
commenters are real cold.

Have you considered that maybe some of the posters are the victims of
crime and harbor bitter resentment toward not only the criminals, but
the so-called justice system?

Of course I've considered, and understand that.
Most law enforcement officers are exposed to a lot of
"bitter resentment". Either they find amusements and
thoughts to keep them decently centered, or they
sink lower.

Sneak peek example - So, after all the pre-trial motions,
and discovery, and jury selection, I've been told to
take the stand, and swear "To tell the truth, the whole
truth, and nothing but the truth."
EXCEPT that the judge has previously instructed me to not
tell the truth about, or even mention the dildo, handcuffs,
and 'snuff pornography' that I recovered from under the sex
crime suspect's seat.
It had been seized by me totally legally, but now
this judge had decided that it's existence was too
inflammatory, and it would unduly influence the jury, and
thus deny the suspect his chance to a fair trial!

Yes, LEOs see the pain of victims and all society.
So, yeah, lots of cops develop an off beat sense of humor.

Unlikely unless the judge is also into all that and
is a co-member with the defendant of some secret society,
and wants to keep it quiet. Or the judge doesn't believe you.

Or the judge understands that those items are legal to own, and
if we're assuming the suspect is innocent until proven otherwise,
they may very well sway the jury to convict an innocent person.
If you'd found (for example) a copy of 'The Story of O', would you
want to have introduced it?

Legal maybe, but in church? :-)

If it's there, isn't it evidence? The defendant may not like
having their personal property legally searched, and shown around,
but that's hard luck.

Yes.
The victim had not described him as having handcuffs
when he tried to grab her. So, those items intended
use was speculation. And, yes, very prejudicial and
inflammatory.

pt
As I did with everything else, I listed it all in my
report and discussion with the prosecutor.
Because the grabbing (attempted kidnapping) was so inept,
he chose to only charge for exposing and assault.
He did want the items from under the seat admitted,
and a long discussion and recess to study further ensued.
The prosecutor was also irritated when the judge ruled
against them.
(To be more clear with your question - that was up to the
prosecutor to try, and the judge to decide,
in other words - not my job man!)
