I watched:

HALT AND CATCH FIRE: Mostly an episode with silly stuff about Cameron
nesting in the woods. We did see that Bosworth is still in financial
trouble and willing to throw his company prospects under the bus to hide
it. We did see Donna trying to subtly extract info from her daughter so
that she can screw everyone over more by stealing their ideas.
Meanwhile, Gordon has a potential new love interest among his new
employees...but he is also saddled with an unsustainable company design
and isn't interested in selling out while the money is good.

aired on Syfy...and then subsequently I watched the entire first season
in the marathon airing. It never got very good. Mostly it was just
dorky stuff with lots of familiar faces including everyone from FIREFLY

Astin. There is a certain enjoyable camp-i-ness to knowing that this
was a fan funded project that spent half of its time making fun of the fans.

GOING IN STYLE: The 2017 remake of this classic tale of old farts that
want to rob a bank. This one had more action than the original, but it
had none of the heart and the ending was just a dumb series of OCEANS 11
style tidbits.

NCAAF: some of of USC vs. Stanford...a game with demonstrated well that
Stanford has no defense at all.

I was just gonna say the same thing. She did a decent job as Charlie
there and I give props to the directors who got those performances out
of her. Because, yeah, other than that, she's always been pretty
underwhelming to me. And even the SUPERNATURAL stuff wasn't Emmy
material. She was also appealing in that web series that she did back in
the day, but that was pretty amateurish stuff, too.

breaks my heart that it won't get any better. :-/ Normally I love this
sort of meta programming. But there seemed to be a mean spiritedness
behind this. He seemed to be laughing at the fans instead of with them.
Nevertheless I'll keep watching and look forward to the cameos.

Room 104 - "The Missionaries" - Two Mormon missionaries have a crisis of
faith. I lost interest about half way through and stopped paying attention.


Space Seed (Netflix streaming) Episode from Star Trek TOS. Kirk rescues
a ship full of genetically enhanced humans who apparently left Earth
following the World War we had 20 years ago in a cryogenic ship because
the new FTL technology we're going to develop next year hadn't come on
line yet. The ships captain is a masochist who zeroed in on a historian
who has been waiting her whole life for a 20th century man to show up
and treat her like dirt. And *why* does Kirk have an *Earth historian*
on a ship whose mission is to get as far away from Earth as possible?
Anyway, it's still a fun episode and nice refresher for what's to come...


Galaxy Quest (blu-ray) Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman
star as the cast of an old sci-fi series who are recruited by aliens,
that mistakenly think the TV broadcasts are historical documents, to
save them from a hostile alien invader. It holds up well enough. I
never realized this before but the lead friendly alien was played by
Veronica Mars' dad Enrico Colantoni.


The Captive (Netflix rental) Ryan Reynolds stars as a dad whose eight
year old daughter is kidnapped by Kevin Durand. Durand holds the
daughter for seven years and taunts the family (Mireille Enos plays the
mom and Alexia Fast plays the older daughter) by leaving various clues
behind that the daughter is still alive, while also keeping the family
under surveillance. Scott Speedman and Rosario Dawson also star as cops
trying to find the girl but they suspect Reynolds kidnapped his own
daughter. This was a weird movie. It never really rose to the level of
good but thanks in large part to the cast it held my interest.


Solace (Netflix rental) Anthony Hopkins stars as a psychic who is
reluctantly recruited by his friend at the FBI (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and
his new partner (Abbie Cornish) to track down a serial killer (Colin
Farrell). At first Hopkins psychic abilities come in really handy in
turning up clues the FBI would have never found but soon Hopkins
realizes the killer is psychic too and he's actually a better psychic
whose two steps ahead of him. This was better than it had any right to
be. It had some nice touches like a high speed chase where a psychic
can tell the driver what to do to be one step ahead of the person
they're chasing. And the two psychic's ability to see the outcome of
various choices and then act based on that future knowledge. It might
have been pretty good if it wasn't hampered by a bad director. But a
kernel of watchability escaped in spite of the director's best efforts
to make the movie unwatchable with stupid unnecessary quick cuts and
foreshadowing.


Little Evil (Netflix streaming) Adam Scott stars as a real estate agents
who marries Evangeline Lilly and takes in a step son who may be, all
signs point to he almost certainly is, the antichrist. It sort of
spoofs the Omen. It's mostly mediocre but it does have the occasional
chuckle moment. I can't really recommend it but if you need some bland
background noise, this might work.

That ep makes me wince for so many reason, namely the woman being so weak-
willed and desperate for Khan's affections that she does anything for it. On
the other hand, that scene where the guy smacks Uhura and that nasty look she
gives him slays me. Don't mess with Uhura!

What did you watch?

I was pretty distracted by other stuff yesterday, so not much...:

Zoo (recorded) - "Once Upon a Time in the Nest". This was a pretty
horrible episode, maybe the worst of the season. Jamie tries to
blackmail "Mr. Duncan" into killing Abigail, despite the fact that
Jackson wants her alive for questioning. Meanwhile, the plane magically
flies halfway around the world in minutes so that Jackson can help
Logan with a hybrid nest. And Dariela takes a job working for Michael
Hogan. The ending of this one was both stupid *and* awful.

A Lover Betrayed (LMN) - This was a pretty good potboiler that ramped
up the intensity as it went along. In this one, Jamie Luner plays a
woman whose son is murdered by the school coworker she turned in for
sexual assault - 7 years later, she's a divorced author who has a
one-night stand with a veteran before reconcilling with her ex-husband.
The veteran doesn't take it very well and starts escalating-stalking
her. Wackiness ensues. Did not see the ending coming...

Violetta (The Netflix) - I watched several episodes of this.
Unfortunately, they dispensed with the storyline with the crazy cellist
girl almost immediately. That left storylines about the school's big
show, and the various romantic entanglements - one of these was sad, as
the EVOL!!1! blond girl's sidekick is getting romanced (for the first
time) by a guy who's really just interested in the EVOL!!1! blonde.

"Who wrote the new algorithm?"

Cameron helps out Boz with her mad computer skillz, which in turn helps
out Donna and hurts Joe and Gordon and Haley. That's almost as bad a
decision as the one that netted her a used, fixer-upper of an Airstream
trailer and a new life as a Cousin Eddie wannabe. Did Boz deliberately
set her up to find that evidence of his late boat?

I'm kinda sorta leaning that way, but I have problems with it. First, he
didn't really show any signs of guilt or deviousness over it, and what
would he have done if she *hadn't* found it? Just keep moving it around
until she does? And second, she's like a daughter to him. I get the
desperation bit, but I don't like to think that he'd try to manipulate
her like that. Any of the others? Sure. Or at least maybe. But not Cameron.

hasn't he? In any case, the whole Boz-needs-cash thing seems like a
really contrived plot development, and a particularly odd one at this
point in the show's lifespan.

I assume it's now playing earlier but it was the last half or quarter of
what appeared to be an Italian Hercules movie and the image was even
smaller than normal.

GHOST ADVENTURES: ARTIFACTS:
"Natalie Wood Relics and Dr.Kevorkian's Death Van". Dildo Baggins examins
Dr Kevorkian's "death van" and crap from the yacht on which Natalie Woods
died. I lost intgerest even faster than the original show it was titled.

IRMA
Local coverage and TWC. Now I understand why their screen is so crammed
with subwindows! They assume you are have a TV larger than 23"!

TCM UNDERGROUND:
"Belladonna of Sadness". A peasant woman makes a pact with the devil after
she's banished from her village in order to gain magical powers and get
revenge on those who wronged her. I hated the animation style of the eartly
1970's (I guess it's better than the current anime style) and had lots of
nekkid titties and sex scenes with labias turing into crocdile heads or
exploding with blood.

"Fantastic Planet". A french cartoon about blue giants keeping humans as
pets. It was NOT "fantastic"!
