Certainly I've seen Hello Kitty statues and such. But the song
seemed to be describing a Hello Kitty TV program or movie (my guess
would be anime), and I haven't seen that.

Yep. It's a kid's show (surprise).

It also should be noted that the creator(s) announced formally last year that Hello Kitty was not a cat, but she was in fact a little girl. My scant knowledge of the anime genre supplies that perhaps Hello Kitty is a "cat type" personality, which follows her friends which are other animals are other animal personalities.

Yes. The curator of the Hello Kitty exhibit had this to say about her years ago:

"That's one correction Sanrio made for my script for the show. Hello Kitty is not a cat. She's a cartoon character. She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She's never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it's called Charmmy Kitty."

Apparently she also has a twin sister, is a Scorpio, is in the third grade, and lives outside London.

Which London? If it's London UK she can't be in third grade - there's no such thing
in the UK.

It's probably London UK considering anime concentrated on England as a setting for a long while (they go through place fads), and she was created a long long time ago - also keeping in mind that we're given that information through the anthropologist who was corrected by the creators. Which means the data they gave her was probably translated from the British or Japanese equivalent.

They might be using the American term for the American market. If she were in third grade in the US, she'd be about 7. The British equivalent would be called Year Three. The Japanese equivalent would be Grade 2 of elementary school.

Nice lyric, but I am wary of any claim that "too many choices" exist. Sure, some folks would find the market less "confusing" if only one brand of beer were on offer, but what if that one brand were the one beer you swore you'd never drink even if it *were* the last brand on earth? (This is probably a topic for another song!)
