The thread is interesting. David went from issuing a fake apology and
trying to get the site downed to attacking the site administrator; all
in the same short (as of today) thread.

David Brooks, Internet Stalker
23 June 2015: An Internet Stalker named David Brooks of Devon, England
has challenged me to post this picture of him. The why comes from a

Stalker David Brooks
Photo by a visitor, published in a forum

Loading Image...

Well, there you have it. This man, David Brooks of Devon, England, is
one of the most despicable persons I have ever run into on the
Interwebs. Google up 'BoaterDave', '~BD~', 'Beady', 'Imbeady2', 'David
B', 'David DewGud', 'BDonTJ', 'CommanderB', 'Commander_B', 'Angela
Bennett', and dozens of other pseudonyms. He just recently used my
domain name as a nym: ( M-ID: <***@fx28.fr7> ) He stalks
innocent good people, Microsoft MVPs, web forum owners where he has
been banned (most of them), posts pictures of your dead relatives
years after the fact, insults people with cancer, and lots more. He's
been doing it since about 2006, under the guise of hunting 'bad guys.'
So far he hasn't caught a single one. He even supports a known 'bad
guy.'

On 17 November 2015, a person named Nil responded to David Brooks in a
Windows newsgroup where he stalks: "You're a well-known net kook and
stalker. Your fake cutesy nicey-nice facade is completely ineffective
at disguising your obvious and true malignancy. You earn every
rudeness you get. ... He recognizes you as the toxic cancer you are."
M-ID: <***@wheedledeedle.moc>

If you should ever encounter David Brooks, DO NOT give him any
personal information.

What part of "leave me out of your stalking posts" aren't you able to

It's hard to believe that you are retired.

Yes, that's the text (although your bad internet connection
seems to have altered the MSG-ID where you swore at him for not
helping you STALK and dared him to post about it, so I corrected it).
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. The reason was a missing "escape"
character for the first "$" in the script. Fixed now.
Did you know???

Know what? That you *STALK*?

Yes, it is obvious to anyone who knows you that you are a STALKER.

What's the URL of *your* web site? I ask because your http://ibuoy.co.uk
was a complete and total failure.

You do realize that Dropbox recently (this week) suffered a
massive data breach and details of posters and visitors were leaked ?
Of course you do.

Another *LIE* from Shadow!
You're scared, and you want someone to check for you. You
don't know how to even though you are a self-proclaimed "researcher"

Though WHY would you crosspost this URL everywhere ?

Oh, right, you didn't. You erased it from the ORIGINAL thread.

this whole thing, but, no worries, I'm a good researcher myself.

Is the actual message BoaterDave wrote which led to the creation of his

Oh, help. I get a 404 from that page. Here is an image I

You are no longer funny, doc.
And yet you post a link to a known datamining/tracking site.
(I checked the domain above, it does not exist, so there is no chance
of downloading malware)

Does anyone else get that result ? Please download the image

Can you explain what *I* see here?
No. If you like I can post the entire text on the URL that you
said gave you a 404. Then YOU can explain it.

*Do not install MacKeeper*
111124 Views | Last Modified: Jan 5, 2014

Many users will see references to an application called MacKeeper on
various web sites and via pop-ups on their browser. Not only is it
expensive for what it purports to do (freeware applications that do the
same or more are readily available), it can sometimes install itself
without the user realising it, and it can be very tricky to get rid of.

MacKeeper has been described by various sources as highly invasive
malware* that can de-stablize your operating system, adding that it is
unethically marketed, with a history of making false advertising claims,
by a company called Zeobit, and a rip-off.

(Please note that references to the original developers, Zeobit, also
now refer to Kromtech Alliance Corp, who acquired MacKeeper and PCKeeper
from ZeoBit LLC in early 2013.)

Most positive reviews of it have been found to have been paid for by
Zeobit (developers of MacKeeper) in the form of ‘free upgrades’ etc. One
such opinion is:

http://themacschool.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/mackeeper-is-scam.html

For more about ‘astruturfing’ (writing phoney product reviews for money)
see here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing

and http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24299742

Further opinion on it and how to uninstall MacKeeper malware can be read
here:

http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/

MacKeeper have recently said that the uninstaller from here:

http://applehelpwriter.wordpress.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malwa
re/

now works.

There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of
which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict
definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so
far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory
conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as
Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac will NOT be
infected by a virus, it may have other security-related problem, but
more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.

You may find this User Tip on Viruses, Trojan Detection and Removal, as
well as general Internet Security and Privacy, useful: The User Tip
seeks to offer guidance on the main security threats and how to avoid them.

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2435

More useful information can also be found here:

www.thesafemac.com/mmg

* The expression ‘malware’ is a general term used by computer
professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or
annoying software.

It wasn't. Scanned with overnight Kaspersky and BitDefender
rescues, both came up clean. And it flagged the bad certificate on the
site you gave, so I seem to be more secure than you are.

13 million Mac users "enjoy MacKeeper", but that does not mean
much, after all, they bought Macs. What was that you said about you
paying for MacKeeper, even after reading the reviews ?
"A Mac user and his money are soon parted" - old proverb. ...
BTW, the thread was about the droopbox megadump, not payware
"anti-virus".

No.

It wasn't. Scanned with overnight Kaspersky and BitDefender
rescues, both came up clean. And it flagged the bad certificate on the

Oh dear! You really should *NOT* still be using Windows XP :-(

13 million Mac users "enjoy MacKeeper", but that does not mean
much, after all, they bought Macs. What was that you said about you
paying for MacKeeper, even after reading the reviews ?
Wrong again. I had *NOT* read the advice on the Apple support forums at
that stage.

BTW, the thread was about the droopbox megadump, not payware

I'm quite saddened that you cannot afford an iMac.

That must be really irritating, you having sent 30+ years in practice as
a doctor. :-(

"Earlier this week Microsoft ended its support for Vista, which means
the decade-old operating system will no longer get security updates. And
while this may spur some companies to finally kick out their old
devices, there are still plenty still holding onto Vista and XP -- and
perhaps even older versions of Windows."

So begins the article here:-

No one is holding onto a copy of Vista (relatively speaking).

Currently WinXP is 5% of Windows market, Vista is 1%

Five years ago WinXP was 35%, Vista was 9.4%.

http://gs.statcounter.com/os-version-market-share/windows/desktop/worldwide#monthly-201205-201705

Vista would be slightly better than WinXP, because ASLR
is more likely to be working. That's where EMET comes in.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Address_space_layout_randomization#Microsoft_Windows

EMET doesn't help WinXP quite as much.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_Mitigation_Experience_Toolkit

Unlike an AV, ASLR at least, is an attempt to "harden" the OS
a tiny bit.

My Mac G4 by comparison, is just terrible. Not only is
the address layout fixed for libraries, but when you
used CodeWarrior, you were expected to enter the address
information when building your programs. (The height of
foolishness.) I doubt the MacOSX works that way today.

I perceive that you have absolutely no idea that your Windows XP machine
has *ALREADY* been compromised and co-opted into a huge Botnet.

You might *THINK* that you are in control, but I suspect that you are not.

I prefer not to take that chance.

YMMV

FYI https://us.norton.com/botnet/

"Some botnets might have a few hundred or a couple thousand computers,
but others have tens and even hundreds of thousands of zombies at their
disposal.

*Many of these computers are infected without their owners' knowledge*."

Only if the program's database contains "signature" of the botnet.

Functionally, a bot is just a service that you don't want. It runs at
the user's permission level. That is why the regular user-account of the
system should not have install privileges.

that it isn't there! That leaves me puzzled.
Look at the page again. Firefox? Press Control-U. Read line 86. Why are
you adding stuff to my source code and claiming it's malware?

Your "editing" is despicable and downright nasty. THERE IS *NO*...

< !-- [if IE]>

...CODE ANYWHERE ON MY WEB SITE. STOP LYING. My page has 116 lines of
code. *YOUR* representation has 121 lines. You've added those extra lines.

Observe your line 94: < div class="ahem">
Observe my line 94: <li><img src='../system/mhome.gif' ...(more)

Now fuck off.

As I'm sure you are aware, there are a number of ports open on the
Tekrider web site.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that YOU are responsible for the
offending script being added to the site as I have described.

You can see it clearly here - line 86:-

You must not run "port scanning" software which accesses remote
machines or networks, except with the explicit prior permission of
the administrator or owner of such remote machines or networks. This
includes using applications capable of scanning the ports of other
Internet users. Click here for a port scanning FAQ.

If you intend to run a port scanning application, you must provide
BT with a copy of the written consent received from the target of
the scan authorising the activity. This must be supplied to BT prior
to the application being run.

heh.. Hey shag, if you have server logs showing a bt.com connection
doing a bit of 'sniffing' feel free to forward them along to their
abuse address. And be sure to quote their acceptable use
policy. :)

The problem I have with believing you is that your site looks somewhat
different dependent on whether I connect to it directly or use a VPN.

Can you explain that, 'bts'?

May I also refer you to this post?

In reality, I have been INVESTIGATING - particularly folk who have
malware on their web sites - like *YOU* have!

I'm so pleased that, at last, you have been looking through your server
logs! :-) I hope it didn't take up too much time.

*Finding a website backdoor*.

Frequently if a hacker gets access to your website they will install a
"backdoor" designed to allow them to hack your site again even after
you've cleaned up the site, repaired the vulnerability that allowed them
to hack the site, changed passwords, updated CMS/themes/ plugins,
installed security plugins, etc. Until it is found and removed a
"backdoor" is going to provide the hacker with access to your site.

Typically a backdoor script is going to be called from a browser like
any other web page, although on occasion I have seen them run from a
chron. The script gives the hacker a web page interface where they can
download and upload files, view or modify files, create directories,
change file/folder permissions, basically it allows them to manage the
site using PHP's ability to read and write files and pass operating
system commands through to the operating system.

Backdoors can be difficult to find because they are usually hidden in
files that are already part of the site or uploaded as new files with
innocent looking names, often in a directory with many files in it.
Backdoors can range from a single line of code to lengthy files that
provide the hacker the equivalent of a Control Panel on your site. There
are some examples of common backdoors at Examples of website "backdoors".

Start by checking your access logs

One way to find these scripts is by searching website access logs for
suspicious log entries generated when the hacker uses the scripts to
modify site files.

Here is a good example, from an Apache HTTP log, of a backdoor script in
actual use by a hacker, to edit the /public_html/.htaccess file:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [dd/mm/yyyy:hh:mm:ss -0700] "GET
/path/footer.inc.php?act=edit&file=/home/account/public_html/.htaccess
HTTP/1.1" 200 4795 "http://website/path/footer.inc.php?act=filemanager"
"Mozilla/5.0..."

footer.inc.php is the innocently-named file containing the backdoor script.

Note: the "act"(action)=edit and file=.htaccess. The backdoor has a
built-in file editor. The referrer (previous page visited) was the same
backdoor, which also has a built-in file manager. Nobody should be able
to edit your .htaccess file from a web page! A log line like this is a
huge warning flag, and points directly to the file where the backdoor
script is hidden.

The above example suggests a few obvious things to search for in your
log file:

htaccess -- Unless you write articles about .htaccess and the word is in
your search-engine-friendly file-name URLs, there is no reason for the
word htaccess to appear in your HTTP access logs.
act=edit action=edit From the example above, and a reasonable variation.

filemanager -- Another word that probably won't normally appear in your
log file. If you use legitimate web-interface editors like CKEditor or
TinyMCE, they might conceivably produce log lines like this when you
edit files yourself, but the pages being called as seen in your log file
should be recognizable as scripts belonging to those editors, not weird
names like footer.inc.php.

Suspicious GET and/or Post variables -- Parameter names that you do not
use on your site and parameters that contain long strings of seemingly
random characters.

The correct term is "drop out". His sphincter finally decided

Probably not a bad idea. He's already had one in person visit with
the police over threatening another posters children with a gun he
claimed he had permission to own, but, did not. :)

He told the police he had no such firearm, and, they couldn't find
any records indicating he had permission/authority to have one. So,
he either lied to them (and he does have it, illegally) or he lied to
various people on usenet when he claimed he had it, with the proper
paperwork. Either way you slice it, he lied about it.

I'm so pleased that, at last, you have been looking through your server
logs! :-) I hope it didn't take up too much time.
No time was spent with my server logs. There are other ways...
*Finding a website backdoor*!

*Start by checking your access logs*

Suspicious GET and/or Post variables -- Parameter names that you do not
use on your site and parameters that contain long strings of seemingly
random characters (i.e. base64 encoded strings).

I recall "The Archangel" used to charge for his "hacking
lessons" 20 or so years ago. The first two were free, and showed us
how to find plain-text passwords in the webpage source. Basically, you
downloaded the webpage, opened it in a text editor and searched for
"pass". In ALL the examples he gave, the password was there. Pure
coincidence, they were all from his own website. Great fun.
Only one customer actually paid him for the other lessons. Did
you ever get your money back ?

Separate from the issues between you and BTS, the first things you
- looked on the sucuri tab itself to see all of the other web checkers
which were negative, indicating 'questionable' (to wrong) sucuri results
- examined the page source for yourself to see that the sucuri
information was misleading at best; and absolutely wrong in reality vis
malware or even an operational javascript
Changing the thread back to STALKING, as usual, BD. He just

To provide an independent viewpoint.

There remain 'problems' with www.Tekrider.net, viz:-

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xtqj0901b2jzglu/MX%20Toolbox%20-%20Tekrider.net.tiff?dl=0

Sucuri have indeed altered their assessment of Tekrider.net (now no
report of malware!) but they NOW say this:-

Scan for: http://tekrider.net
Hostname: tekrider.net
IP address: 192.251.238.3

System Details:
Running on: Apache
Unable to properly scan your site. Site returning error (40x): HTTP/1.1

To my mind, something *IS* amiss with BTS's web site ....

*OR* he's simply playing games.

Which is it, folks?

bad about the website, but, if it helps, you exposed the sometimes
glaring incompetence of sucuri. I've done further analysis since my
original post. See below.

Securi says YOU are wrong, Dustin!
It's Sucuri. They are using scare mongering tactics with you. As
well as contradicting themselves. a suspicious url (which I can't
find in my local copy of tekrider or the online version when checked
with firefox or wget) isn't malware by itself. A url alone can't
actually be malware. What it points to, oth, could be. But, in this
particular case, the code they claim is present, isn't.

So, contrary to what you may think, they aren't saying I'm wrong,
either. Suspicious does not equal malware. And, they consider the
missing html source (I can't find it in my local copy or the online
edition) suspicious ONLY because a piece of it's domain, or, the
entire thing (I'm not sure which; didn't check; not sure if they
publish their blacklist) is supposedly blacklisted by them. That
doesn't automatically make it malware, either.

I perceive that you have absolutely no idea that your Windows XP machine
has *ALREADY* been compromised and co-opted into a huge Botnet.
But wouldn't an AV app like Avast pick up on that?
Sadly, not necessarily.
That's MY understanding anyway.

Perhaps this screenshot will help you understand *HOW* your computer

It did, thank you, show me why I was NOT infected, but you
were.. As you know, the site you posted the "screenshot" (which I
didn't try to download - if it was important, you would have posted in
words, not as an image) was hacked.
All those 404's you are getting ..... explained.

No, not a rootkit that got past the AV.
You need to boot from a USB or CD to find them. Try Kaspersky
or (not as good) BitDefender rescues.
Why there are so many botnets made of Win 7 and 10
machines.... once the rootkit installs, it controls the AV.

For what security reasons, David? Please, list some.

You might *THINK* that you are in control, but I suspect that you are not.

Perhaps you can explain why there are so many errors from a supposed
expert in his field?

About Annex Technologies

In reading our history, you'll glean that we really have been in this
industry for far longer than most Internet companies.

Our Mission

To utilize our historical experience in this industry, add in an
unending passion for evaluating new technologies as they come out, spice
it with our extreme desire to be our clients' heros; in order to
implement elegant & cost effective solutions for our clients and make a
little bit 'o money in the process.

Our Origin...

Annex Telecommunications opened its doors in January of 1992 as a
Bulletin Board System (BBS). There was no public internet then, but
people still communicated online through systems such as ours.

In '93 we started offering internet email services and in late '94
we offered internet access services. Also in '94, we began developing
software for the Majorbbs and became a Third Party Developer for
Galacticomm.

As the BBS world started to dwindle due to the emergence of the
Internet as a public entity, the next logical step was to develop for NT
and IIS, and that's precisely what we did. One of our products,
404bGone, had been well received by hostmasters around the globe.

At the same time, we started digging heavily into website
development, favoring a programming language called ColdFusion, by Adobe
(originally by Allaire and then Macromedia). We quickly fell in love
with that type of development (and we got good at it!).

Our Present...

Today, things are more exciting than ever. Our servers are purring
in an Enterprise level facility and we're still having fun.

Life is good. Our entire business operates on one set of
principles; Do good work, find solutions for our partners (clients),
have fun doing it, and make a living in the process.

Our Future...

Having been in this industry for over 22 years, we've learned a
great deal about the art of adaptation. As the Internet continues to
evolve (and it will), we'll continue to pursue the latest technologies
and opportunities for you.

It's a wild wild Internet out there, and we're in it for the long run.

Shit happens.

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/102304

Imagine the following scenario. You're not a rich company. You
spin the HTML code yourself. But, you rent a server in a COLO,
with an Apache web server already loaded. The only control you're
given, is the ability to upload your pages of content. You don't have
"root" - you can't change Apache settings.

Now, imagine the bill comes in at the end of the month, and
you say to yourself "I should really change providers and save
a few bucks". You rent a server from another service provider,
and it happens to have a *different* web server package than
the previous one. Most people would assume (layered model),
that changing your service provider, doesn't screw up your content.

*******

As for the web, you can see some of their test results here,
Hardly any of the commercial companies pass on validation.
Only rhe hardcore "we're doing it to impress people" ones passed.

https://blog.codinghorror.com/html-validation-does-it-matter/

Even a casual glance at the error console in your browser should
show you that really *no* pages you visit on an average day,
are clean.
