I watched:

I'M SORRY: Two episodes of the TruTV sitcom starring Andrea Savage
(iZOMBIE). In the first episode (Acts of Service) the show tackles
parental discussions of an adult nature occurring in front of children.
In the second episode (Too Slow) the show tackles parental interactions
with mean lesbians. Both episodes were mildly funny in this show where
sarcasm rules the day.

FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE: The final two episodes from season #1 of this
Netflix series starring Cobie Smulders (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER,
AVENGERS). More betrayals, more secrets, the rabbit is back and these
people are all kinds of horrible/damaged/clueless idiots. Fred Savage
(THE WONDER YEARS) did have a great twist reveal to his character,
though. Chris Elliott (GET A LIFE, SHITT'S CREEK) shows up as THE
MENTALIST. Meanwhile, sadly, the only nudity came from Nat Faxon.

DESERT BLUE: A 1998 comedy/drama film starring a slew of familiar faces
(Christina Ricci, Kate Hudson's film debut, John Heard, Casey Affleck,
Etahn Suplee, Brendan Sexton III, Sara Gilbert, Michael Ironside)
trapped in a small Nevada town during a quarantine. The show's plot
played out in ways that constantly hinted at big conspiracy style
ending, but instead this film stayed relatively low key and micro
budget. Morgan J. Freeman (note the 'J' means *not that Morgan
Freeman*) wrote and directed and this looked like a promising followup
to his multiple Sundance Film award winning HURRICANE STREETS effort.
Looking at his IMDB page, he must have suffered a severe blow to the
head at some point and his career has devolved from these small budget
films of potential and into being the 'Executive Producer' behind such
shows as 16 AND PREGNANT, TEEN MOM, and TEEN MOM 2.

asteroid and a special meteor rock needed to make more, they question
why doesn't the Russian government work with them and pool their
resources. What?!?! They themselves have shown *no* interest in
working with other governments even if it means the end of all life on
Earth. And now the US and Russia are at the verge of nuclear war.
Anyway, Darius' uncle (John Noble) just happens to have another meteor
rock, which 10 minutes earlier in the episode they specifically said
there weren't any more on Earth but whatever. So anyway, they need this
rock to keep humanity from going extinct. Darius goes to him, lies to
him and insults him. And when asked why didn't you just tell him the
truth for why the rock is needed, Darius says his uncle would let the
world burn out of spite anyway. Seriously?!?!?! So the *only* other
option to get that rock is to break in with armed soldiers and steal it.
This show is seriously trying my patience.

this is a reboot since when Godzilla shows up no one knows what he is.
The plot is as basic as it gets. Godzilla crawls out of the ocean
knocks over buildings, the military shows up and tries to kill him.
There also seemed to be a lot of internal Japanese politics at play.
This was pretty bad. I guess if you're a true hardcore Godzilla fan you
have no choice but to watch it. But if you're a casual fan at best,
stay far, far away from this waste of time.

characters saying totally different things.

the dubbed dialogue and subtitled dialogue which often have the
characters saying totally different things.

THE WAVE was full of stuff like that, which is why I left 'em on.

While you are correct about there being multiple levels of stupid with
the episode they do keep teasing some reason why Russia has been
playing the game they've been doing. It's all behind whatever Project
Atlas (Atlus?) was. Perhaps an anti-satellite project (hence the
remains found by those kids in the picture they keep showing.)

Any other option would not have allowed for the story they are trying
to tell. Going to the UK government with the news and asking for help
would be letting more people in on the news and taking away the
opportunity for the US to be the decider of the fate of the world.

This one is already in my Netflix queue and I'm enough of a completist
to leave it there...but your review is not promising.

Oh, yeah, I forgot THE WAVE.

The Netflix learned of The Peach's affinity for disaster movies, and got
her to watch this Norwegian flick about tsunamis in the fjords. I found
that phrase so enjoyable I gave it a shot. You can watch it in 5.1
surround in Norwegian or dubbed English. The subtitles are so heavily
paraphrased I went for the English. The dubbing sounds exactly like a
bad Godzilla movie. The audio track is excellent, with the rear
speakers spending the last half of the movie making it sound just like
it was raining outside. The idiot plot involves the worst father in the
world (seriously, at one point he leaves his kids locked in the car
while he goes off on a helicopter investigating crevices in the fjord,
and he abandons them routinely, at the end leaving his daughter in the
hands of a guy who's wife he had just gotten killed - yeah, *that's*
gonna end well) who somehow is the only person to figure out that
exactly 10 minutes after the crevices shrink, any place on the fjord
will be hit with a tidal wave (it's in the freaking textbooks, but
nobody else has ever read them). His wife works in a hotel with a bomb
shelter, where they throw the circuit breakers while standing in 3 feet
of water, and the whole place has still working lights all of which are
set at knee level for some reason. Oh, and the bomb shelter is hooked
to the A/C system, because that should keep them safe.

But it *looks* great, including the obligatory titular wave (oh, yeah,
he also knows exactly how high it will reach, and every time they show a
new location they caption it with it's altitude above sea level,
although IIRC the worthless seismic tracking center mysteriously
survives); this and Alien Covenant are convincing examples that anybody
can make an FX movie now; talent is no longer required.

The mother's cute friend is played by an up and coming Norwegian actress
who's featured in the film KISS ME YOU FUCKING MORON that I was sadly
unable to find a copy of.

What did you watch?

Two-day (assuming I can remember it all...):

soaps: Pass.

Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (recorded) - "The Embersteel
Blade". An amusing episode in which Kordi impersonates a princess and
the Freemakers crash a fancy shindig in order to buy a spacecraft with
a crucial needed part for their new spacecraft that they're trying to
build for the Rebels. Pretty much all the old gang shows up at the
shindig (there's even a shot of the block of carbonite containing
Naare!), including Wick Cooper whom I was certain had bought it in the
season #1 finale!!

Shadowhunters (recorded) - "Hail and Farewell". They want us to think
that the Sebastian/Jonathan problem is finally resolved, but they made
the cardinal "horror movie mistake" of not separating his head from his
body, so I'll believe it when I see it. Meanwhile, Morganstern
effectively *kills* a bunch of mundanes, and nobody seems alarmed that
he's crossed this "Red Line" (hey - I thought the Shadowhunters are
actually there to *protect* the mundanes, yet they never seems to
really do that, or even care about it!!). Oh, and they inexplicably age
the Seeley Queen from the intriguing regal tween (Lola Flanery) they
had playing her, to "Modern Family's" Sarah Hyland (why?! is she a fan
of the show or something?!...) - I have no idea why... IOW, this show
is "teh stoopid!" Still, at least these storylines finally seem to be
moving somewhere - hopefully Morgenstern is finally dead at the end of
next week's season finale...

Death Race 2050 (recorded) - Recorded off Siffy a while back. OK, so
this is, like, the *opposite* tone of the Jason Statham 2008 flick.
And, hey! look!! - it's Red Abby (Marci Miller) from DOOL as the main
female lead in this, opposite Manu Bennett!! Still, I didn't think this
was all that bad. Once you realize that they're playing this one for
straight laughs, with a mild side of social commentary, this aimably
passes the time. Still, I thought the main opponent, Jed Perfectus, was
pretty good comedy relief, and I liked the dark/ridiculous ending... So
I didn't think this was nearly as bad as others seem to.

Hooten & the Lady (recorded) - "Ethiopia". Covered in the separate
thread on this episode. Basically, this episode was sort of mild in
story and action, but I liked it anyway.

Shooter (recorded) - "The Dark End of the Street". The flashbacks
finally catch up to where Solotov came in to the picture. And in the
present, Bob Lee and Isaac are getting closer to catching him.
Meanwhile, Julie seems to be slowly cracking up from PTSD. And Memphis
does some more digging.

Raising the Bar (The Netflix) - No, not the TNT series! This was the
recent flick that Ice recommended!! (Heh.) Anyway, this was a
legitimate starring vehicle for "Lab Rats'" Kelli Berglund (she's in
nearly every shot of this flick). It was filmed in Australia (hell, it
looks like it was filmed in "PAL" rather than "NTSC" to boot!), and
looked to be pretty low budget. In the flick, Berglund plays an ex
(American) gymnast who relocates with her mom to Australia, and is
immediately drawn back into the sport by her "wacky" new Aussie friend
(Lili Karamalikis). Berglund must have some background in gymnastics,
as she looked like she knew what she was doing in the parts they let
her do the performing...
Anyway, while this didn't start nearly as well as "Stick It" did, it
also didn't crash and burn at the end like "Stick It" did. In fact, the
ending was rather appropriate.
Bottom line: Probably not for anyone who's not a fan of Berglund's,
but Berglund fans will probably be satisfied.

Andi Mack (recorded) - "Best Surprise Ever". I finally got around to
watching the season #1 finale of this, that I recorded quite a while
ago. Suffice it to say that watching this just confirmed that I really
don't like this show - I don't plan on watching season #2.

What did you watch?

Shadowhunters (recorded) - "Hail and Farewell". They want us to think

Noble in recent years, he really needs to cut back on the perms. His
involvement here revolves around the assumption (on Elon's part) that
Uncle Walter is so out of sorts with his nephew that he'd literally
rather see the world end than cooperate with him. Okay, yeah. Sure.
Let's go with that. And it gets better. Harris believes that his SECDEF
boss, who'd go up against the Russians in a heartbeat and risk war,
won't do anything to offend delicate British sensibilities on a much
smaller scale. Meaning, of course, that our small band of heroes will
have go in alone when it comes time to take what Uncle Walter won't
freely give. With Liam as part of the team, of course, since he insists
that he's the only one who can extract the material that they need from
a rock in Uncle Walter's castle -- even though we later see that a
trained chimp could have done it. Bottom line: the writers aren't even
*trying* to come up with good reasons for having Our Heroes operating
solo all of the time. It's embarrassing.

Meanwhile, Grace is in full drama queen mode at one point. "We've
sacrificed everything for this mission," she says to Harris. Um, no,
Grace. You haven't. You haven't sacrificed a single thing. Unless you're
talking about a few long days that anyone on salary would be familiar
with in any field. And SECDEF is the latest talentless drone to be a
complete asshat to the brain trust, thinking that the best approach to
the asteroid problem at this point is bluster combined with bullying the
only people who can still fix things. I mean, these guys are the only
thing between this tool and death in some six months and he's acting as
if *he* has the leverage, or something. Eerily reminiscent of all of the
times when I wanted McGee or Abbie to explain to Gibbs that he needed
them way more than they needed him and that he might want to start
treating them with a little more respect.

Elsewhere, our intrepid reporter recruits Jillian to work with her to
uncover the big story. As a result, Jillian goes snooping and Liam gets
busted after apparently thinking that leaving his bloody clothes (from
previous adventures) lying around is a good idea. So she demands the
truth, which Liam gives her, and she responds with sincere gratitude.
No, wait. That's not how it went at all. Instead, she responds by being
the self-absorbed beeyatch that she always is when she doesn't get her
way. Only this time she *did* get her way, so the takeaway is that she's
pretty much always just a self-absorbed beeyatch.

Back to Grace, who takes time to have dinner with her mom and dad, so we
know that something will come of that. And sure enough, we soon learn
that Grace's dad is/was some kind of spy who can help out with
Operation: Invade Walter's Castle. And to finish up the soapy backstory
in this one, we learn that Uncle Walter made Elon Jr. give up Tess, the
love of his life, in exchange for cash to finance his first business
venture. Overall, the asteroid was nothing more than a framing device
for a lot of social drama and soap and a little bit of Rambo in this one.

I think they went out of their way to find people without any common
sense to write this show. That or they found people that don't care
about following any sort of logic. They come up with an idea of where

And while this is true on many other shows, it's *really* obvious and
consistent here. Again, Elon Jr. told multiple people on multiple
occasions that his uncle hates him so much that he'd literally let the
world end before he'd help out his nephew! And no one offers much, if
anything, in the way of challenging this assumption!!! There are
probably a gazillion ways to write things so that Our Heroes are forced
to take British matters into their own hands, but the way that the
writers chose here might just be based on the most stupid premise I've
ever heard.
