A footnote to a Grauniad article about a "Marmite amnesty" at London City
Airport lists the following as the most commonly confiscated items in
people's hand luggage:

1 Snow globes
2 Jams and spreads
3 Toiletries
4 Jars of chutney and pickles
5 Olive oil
6 Wine
7 Spirits
8 Marmite
9 Nutella chocolate spread
10 Furry handcuffs.

The confiscated jars, says the article, are donated to a local charity but
the fate of the snow globes, booze, and furry handcuffs remains a mystery.

Snow globes are number 1 on the list? That is surprising.

They're shaped like bombs.

I can't remember ever bringing a snow globe with me when I travel. I thought that toiletries would be the most common.

Right. Like the ones in Tom & Jerry cartoons.

Perhaps there's a students' project in there somewhere; put GPS trackers
on the snow globes to find out where they go. My guess is they go back
to the junk souvenir trade and probably turn up back at an airport
again, and again, and again.

I would like to know what happened to the (commercially packaged)[1]
Lilikoi jam that was confiscated at Honolulu airport by some
jack-booted, overzealous TSA agent. Probably used it on his toast the
next day.
