When Sardick learned that his girlfriend Abigale was dying, why didn't he set up a research program to find a cure for her disease (keeping her frozen until the research program succeeded)?

He still seemed concerned about her state as an old man at the end of the episode.

The Doctor had made him more compassionate, which should have led to him using his resources to find a cure to her disease. His increased compassion did lead to him deciding to save that spaceship.

Sardick doesn't want to save the spaceship with 4003 people on board. Why is he rejecting the possibility of those 4003 becoming tourists and spending money on his planet? Why isn't he concerned about the effect a crash would have on his planet's economy?

A spaceship crash and a subsequent lawsuit could cost him lots of money. How could he not care about THAT? I got the impression that he did care about his bottom line.

Had a spaceship ever gotten in trouble before in the planet's atmosphere? If so, was it allowed to crash also?

So we would have very hot hydrogen or nitrogen spilling out when the ship broke up?

Its my understanding that it requires a much higher temperature to fuse nitrogen than to fuse hydrogen.

It now occurs to me that when the Doctor was initially trying to persuade Sardick to save that spaceship, the Doctor should have pointed out to him that "If you allow that spaceship to crash, the owners of that spaceship will sue the living daylights out of you! So will the relatives of the 4,003 crew and passengers!".

When has the Doctor ever tried the lawsuit threat against anyone?
"Exterminate them and you'll be sued for murder!" It's just not
the sort of approach that occurs to him.

But I don't recall the Doctor even trying the lawsuit threat!
Therefore, we can't know that it wouldn't have worked?
When has the Doctor ever tried the lawsuit threat against anyone?
"Exterminate them and you'll be sued for murder!" It's just not
the sort of approach that occurs to him.
Point well taken.

It now occurs to me that when the Doctor was initially trying to
persuade Sardick to save that spaceship, the Doctor should have pointed
out to him that "If you allow that spaceship to crash, the owners of
that spaceship will sue the living daylights out of you! So will the
relatives of the 4,003 crew and passengers!".
Not moved.
But I don't recall the Doctor even trying the lawsuit threat!
Therefore, we can't know that it wouldn't have worked?
Sardick was cold as ice.

Sardick doesn't want to save the spaceship with 4003 people on board.
Why is he rejecting the possibility of those 4003 becoming tourists and
spending money on his planet? Why isn't he concerned about the effect a
crash would have on his planet's economy?
Why isn't he worried about being sued by the spaceship's company?
Because he does not care.
A spaceship crash and a subsequent lawsuit could cost him lots of money.
How could he not care about THAT? I got the impression that he did care
about his bottom line.
Had a spaceship ever gotten in trouble before in the planet's
atmosphere? If so, was it allowed to crash also?
The ship would break up before it hi the population centre.
If spaceships had been destroyed in the planet's atmosphere before, wouldn't spaceships have stopped coming to that planet, leading to a recession?

It looked big enough to survive reentry in big enough pieces to cause damage.

How to make Sardick play ball: Bring his child self aboard crashing
ship, tell him "Save that spaceship, or your past self dies!".
I do nto recll that.
It didn't happen. I was proposing a method by which the Doctor could
have secured Sardick's cooperation.
The Doctor got it to work out in the end.
I think my method would have been faster.

Why didn't the TARDIS give the spaceship a tow?
The gravity of the planet below.
It once towed a ship out of a black hole!
Depends on the stability.
The stability of what, idiot?? The Ship?? The Planet?? The Black Hole??

When Sardick learned that his girlfriend Abigale was dying, why didn't
he set up a research program to find a cure for her disease (keeping her
frozen until the research program succeeded)?
He must have gotten that cold.
What cold? I didn't see any coughing!

One thing the Doctor could have tried: "Sardick, if you let that spaceship crash, I'll suggest that the spaceship owners sue the living daylights out of you!".

He still seemed to have compassion for her, enough that he didn't want to take her out of stasis and have her die!

I find it amazing that it never occurred to either Abigale or Sardick that an advanced being called "The Doctor" might have a cure for her illness!

At the end, Sardick lets Abigale out of stasis so that she can save that spaceship with her singing. She has just one day of life left. IMHO, Sardick should put her back in stasis before day's end and start a massive research program to find a cure for her disease (keeping her frozen until the research program succeeded).

massive research program to find a cure for her disease (keeping her
frozen until the research program succeeded).
Foul! Please stick with Twice Upon a Time!
Why the hell should Tim stick to "Twice Upon a Time", which he hasn't
seen yet, when he obviously knows so much about historical Doctor Who
stories, idiot??
Keep up your good work, Tim!!
when guided correctly.
Who?? You?? You never seem to take any of the guidance offered to you by

At the end, Sardick lets Abigale out of stasis so that she can save
that spaceship with her singing. She has just one day of life left.
IMHO, Sardick should put her back in stasis before day's end and start a
massive research program to find a cure for her disease (keeping her
frozen until the research program succeeded).
