I was in London for business this week and had a few hours to kill so I ran down to the V&A to check out the Pink Floyd Exhibition. (Very interesting, but the massive crowds kind of killed the flow.)
On the left as you go into the V&A form Cromwell, there is a gallery devoted to plywood. Right at the front they have a Formula Two car from 1967 with a plywood tub. It was designed by Frank Costin and manufactured by Ron Harris Racing of Hertfordshire. The exhibit card says:
"Painted, moulded 3-ply birch plywood body with birch plywood bulkheads, metal fittings, rubber wheels, acrylic hood"
Apparently Costin got the idea from working on plywood aeroplanes. If it works, here is a link to one of Joe's blogs covering this.
