I know that Harvey Spencer Lewis, who called himself "Doctor",
published 5 Manifestos under the title "Confessio R...C...
Fraternitatis" (1918). I want to know, privately if necessary, if
somebody can make a copy available for me of such writings. Thanks.

On a related subject, I pressed AMORC in 1988 (as a long time member)
to answer me the question of where was HSL's "PhD" from. After the
second letter (they didn't reply to the first one) they admitted that
HSL had two * honorary* doctorates from never-heard-of Indian
"universities". They gave the name of "India Academy Of Sciences" and
the other, I forgot.

CONCLUSION: HSL did *not* have a PhD. And he was a modern day mystic
none the less.

It was a standard "Saints & Scoundrels" situation. That's also the
cover title a GNOSIS magazine (RIP) issue.

Exaggerated claims were part of legitimate mystics of the previous
centuries (Cagliostro anyone?) :-)
