How come most of posts here are about one character? Have all "DOC" Fans died?
Why no discussion of Robert E. Howard, or, Lovecraft? How about C.L. Moore?

Why no posts on "Lefty Feep"? That's my kinda guy. Who can forget "Subconscious Sygmond"?

Because John Olsen posts excellent reviews of Shadow stories. I expect
if it weren't for him, this group would have faded away years ago.

If you'd like to discuss Lefty Feep (who I don't remember every having
heard of before your post), by all means discuss him!

I'd love to see some other pulps reviewed, but it's rare to find someone
willing to step up and post them. I think most people are more prone to
"consume" rather than "create". In other words, it's easier to read the
reviews than write them.

I would encourage anyone reading this to consider reading a pulp and
writing some short review. It doesn't have to be long. I'd certainly
appreciate anything, even a couple paragraphs.

Dr. Hermes used to post reviews way back in the old days (2008 or so?).
He pretty much now only posts them to his blog <
http://dochermes.livejournal.com >. I'm guilty of doing the same, too.

But, you're right, John. There does seem to be a tendency not to
participate, just watch.

I don't even know if anyone is even watching anymore -- think it must be all Facebook now. Over at alt.doc I've posted most of the threads for the past year, other than the aluminum helmet/NSA guy. Fifteen years ago the rumor of a pulp reprint would set off dozens of posts -- today we live in the Golden Age of reprints, but nobody'is talking about them here

Yes. I found a new post there this morning. Turned out to be the DOC's cars thread that had expired in Oct. 2003

Most of the activity has moved to the Yahoo Groups on the pulps. While
some of that is moving to Facebook, there's still plenty of activity at
Yahoo.

Over on ThePulp.Net, I've got a listing of most of the pulp groups at Yahoo:

I still check several of the pulp newsgroups (alt.fan.conan, alt.pulp,
alt.fan.doc-savage, alt.fan.er-burroughs, and alt.horror.cthulhu) but,
you're right, they are mostly dead except for aluminum-foil hat spammers.
