So would ISPs "pay" more if their customers consume more data?

At best I can tell from my U-Verse gateway despite watching a lot of streaming HD shows and movies I only consume around 200 GB a month. The other thing is that the codecs are constantly improving so the amount of bits needed to send these shows is going down.

But we have allowed the telecoms to be run by Napoleons who want the market to themselves and charge us "serfs" as much as they want. What we should do in California is start a proposition drive to remove the state law the cable companies put into effect that if they are already in a city or town municipal fiber cannot happen. It's totally a corrupt "pull the ladder up" law.

I thought the FCC invalidated those laws.

In Tennessee and North Carolina but we need to get them to invalidate the California laws. It's an uphill battle with the fascist telecoms.
