On the rare occasion, though, a show hits and hits big, and becomes
the new subject of water-cooler talk for millions of Americans. It’s
not often that a “Walking Dead” or “Game of Thrones” comes along, but
with the sheer number of shows that debut every year, it’s always a
possibility. Here's a look at three new fall shows that you may want
to keep an eye on and check out when they debut.

SEAL Team and The Brave

<Put me in a dress and call me nancey but I have zero interest in
these two.>

Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders

<You can not be serious.>

So what's the third show, for those of us who don't want to click on the
link? If you're going to summarize, do all of them.

I didn't know she was an Indian. Isn't she way too old to be finally making
her way into the world, trying to survive her first solo wilderness adventure,
the transition to adulthood?

Yeah, that's why that one looks bad. First season Angel David could
have pulled it off. Now he just looks like TJ Hooker.

TJ Hooker. TJ Hooker. I remember Heather Locklear at her most adorable,
a horribly smug guy who plays Italian ethnics but doesn't look Italian,
and some older guy playing the title character I'd never heard of before.

I never really cared for it.

It's about to start playing again on ME-TV.

Lockear hated it. They padded every inch of her to give her some form
that showed through the uniform. Even her calves.

Oh. Yeah, she did seem to have trouble moving. Why couldn't they just
write Jaclyn Smith goes undercover in a bikini in a cold climate scenes
for her like Charlie's Angels?

Another thing they could have done was hired an actress with the shape
and figure that they really wanted, sheesh.

adjusting everybody else's schedules around hers.

Sammy Jo on Dynasty!

You made me look it up: She didn't join the cast till the fifth episode
of Season 2, "Reconciliation" 12-9-1981. I assume she was main cast in
season 3. I don't recall she was padded for that show, and she was probably
in plenty of bikinis.

Glamorous Heather Locklear, cheesecake Heather Locklear rolling around
a bed. Not seeing where she needs padding.

I like the representative image of one of the guys, sitting in the back
of the limousine with a pair of young, sexy legs on his lap.

Ali MacGraw guest starred. So funny to see Ricardo Montalban as a
"special guest star" himself.

And there's Joan Collins in all her glory.

Yeah, that was odd, but the site didn't seem malicious so I shared. I
didn't look around any to see if other entries tended to be leaked or

Yeah, that's why that one looks bad. First season Angel David
could have pulled it off. Now he just looks like TJ Hooker.
TJ Hooker. TJ Hooker. I remember Heather Locklear at her most
adorable, a horribly smug guy who plays Italian ethnics but
doesn't look Italian, and some older guy playing the title
character I'd never heard of before.
I never really cared for it.
It's about to start playing again on ME-TV.
Lockear hated it. They padded every inch of her to give her
some form that showed through the uniform. Even her calves.
Oh. Yeah, she did seem to have trouble moving. Why couldn't
they just write Jaclyn Smith goes undercover in a bikini in a
cold climate scenes for her like Charlie's Angels?
Another thing they could have done was hired an actress with
the shape and figure that they really wanted, sheesh.
Remember what a hot ticket item she was at the time? Spelling had
her starring in TWO series at once and shuttling her between
them and adjusting everybody else's schedules around hers.
Sammy Jo on Dynasty!
You made me look it up: She didn't join the cast till the fifth episode
of Season 2, "Reconciliation" 12-9-1981. I assume she was main cast in
season 3.

Unless I blinked, she's gone from 5, and Fallon has been abducted by a
UFO at this point

Season 6! She's back!! And OMG watch this one for the special guest
stars! It's the Colbys!! And the fake Alien Hybrid Fallon with the

Season 7. Sammy Jo hangs in but ... who *are* most of these people?

Season 9, the final season. Archived by people pointing video cameras
at CRTs. Linda Evans is gone. Heather goes to bed! The Doctor from
SeaQuest DSV (the 'DSV' stands for: SeaQuest!!!) comes aboard! And
damn near everybody else leaves.

Glamorous Heather Locklear, cheesecake Heather Locklear rolling around

I like the representative image of one of the guys, sitting in the back

Jessica Alba complained about being on the cover since it inferred or
implied she was on the inside nekkid. Sadly, she wasn't.

Suzanne Somers *was* on the inside nekkid and complained bitterly and
they sent her expensive jewelry.

Jane Fonda complained that they were using pictures taken from the
rafters on a movie set.

Gina Lee Nolin ... well, that was a mess. They rejected her as a nude
model so she paid her photographer to fake *spy* photos hoping Playboy
would accept those, but they figured it out.

I'm quite sure Alyssa Milano must have complained. Her mother made a
cottage industry of threatening people that printed or displayed online
nude photos of her daughter, even though she had no legal standing.

They did a 'Woman of Soap Operas' and one of them complained because she
didn't like the airbrushing. :D

How can I remember all that off the top of my head when I can't remember
what I had for lunch?

I agree with your father's pro-nudity, non-stigmatizing attitude, but I
also agree with Miss Fonda that the stalker exploited her. Now, if he'd
simply published the photos for, uh, historical documentation of life behind
the scenes on a movie production, then she should have understood that
at the time.

Playboy photo spreads always made actresses look real good, what with
extensive airbrushing and flattering lighting and "improved" flesh tones.
It never made sense that any actress should have ever been stigmatized
for having appeared in Playboy, especially in that era when Playboy
was at its peak of photographic excellence.
I can't recall any actresses being stigmatized for posing. Do you have
examples?
Jessica Alba complained about being on the cover since it inferred or
implied she was on the inside nekkid. Sadly, she wasn't.
Suzanne Somers *was* on the inside nekkid and complained bitterly and
they sent her expensive jewelry.
Jane Fonda complained that they were using pictures taken from the

So I see a bunch of unhappy actresses, but I still see no stigma.

And you had a turkey sub for lunch.

Jane Fonda complained that they were using pictures taken from the
rafters on a movie set.
So I see a bunch of unhappy actresses, but I still see no stigma.
And you had a turkey sub for lunch.
Nah, I don't like turkey, and I'm not allowed to eat bread.
Hard boiled eggs, then.

Joanna Pettet, February 1968. For some reason, her posing in Playboy
drew unwelcome attention from the Hearst Syndicate, which I guess was
looking for someone to beat up that week. Doing the shoot was beneath
her and it would destroy her career, the Hearst columnists said.

Pettet worked steadily through 1990, when she decided to retire.
She'll turn 75 in November.

Mata in Casino Royale! It's an absolutely dreadful movie with a few
good moments, but the women are so astonishingly beaufiful that it
becomes, uh, great art.

BTR1701 should like that movie for Herb Alpert.

Agreed on the women. I think it's probably the best of the three
versions of Casino Royale filmed to date though.

And did nude scenes in several films that show up these days as
everything becomes unearthed.

Well, post Louella Parsons, Hearst couldn't destroy careers, I guess.
Pettet has ... issues. I followed her on The Facebook for awhile. She
won't sign copies of the Playboy in autograph sessions, and she goes off
on ex lover Alex Cord routinely, claiming stuff like that he had to wear
the eyepatch in AIRWOLF because the herpes he gave her so messed up his
eye that he was unphotographable.

Reminds me of Yvette Mimieux. She won't sign the Playboy she was in
either and went on a rant (through an intermediate that might just have
been a fanboy) about how the nudes of her are fake, how she's never done
and never will do nudes. Um, Yvette, babycakes, the nudes are from
Jackson County Jail, they sure as Hell aren't fake, and IIRC you took a
production credit of some kind on the film. Now, just to prove there's
an AIRWOLF connection to be found everywhere, Jackson County Jail was
remade as the season 2 AIRWOLF opener, Sweet Britches, with the ending
changed so AIRWOLF blew the evil Sheriff to Hell.

IIRC Blue was actually nudes shot for the magazine, or at least to be
nudes, whereas Jackson County Jail was (probably) screen grabs from the
movie in the annual Sex in Cinema or Sex Stars or something. Those
women probably have more room to complain.

Oh, give me a break. In that era, Playboy was best known for the fabulous
photography. Penthouse and Hustler were pushing boundaries from erotica
into pr0n. Hustler, of course, was fighting legal battles on censorship.

Penthouse was best known for those letters to the letter that always
began, I couldn't believe it happened to me. Playboy had the feature
article (that people always read Playboy for), the one-on-one interview
in which the writer showed up at the subject's home and wouldn't go
away for a week.

Very much so.

My parents were so cute. They both wanted to see the magazine, but each
was afraid the other would be horribly offended, so each came to me
privately and asked me to go get them one and not tell the other. So I
tossed it on the table between them and told them I wasn't about to buy
*two* of the damn things and they should enjoy it together. Later when
I asked to see it they told me they had trashed it with prejudice so I
ended up having to go buy another copy *anyway*

Yeah, that's why that one looks bad. First season Angel David could

TJ Hooker.
Remember what a hot ticket item she was at the time? Spelling had her
starring in TWO series at once and shuttling her between them and
adjusting everybody else's schedules around hers.
Sammy Jo on Dynasty!
You made me look it up: She didn't join the cast till the fifth episode
of Season 2, "Reconciliation" 12-9-1981. I assume she was main cast in
season 3.

and 4
http://youtu.be/cF2Opqt-iKU
Unless I blinked, she's gone from 5, and Fallon has been abducted by a
UFO at this point
http://youtu.be/SfdiByx76Ec
Season 6! She's back!! And OMG watch this one for the special guest
stars! It's the Colbys!! And the fake Alien Hybrid Fallon with the
real boobs!
http://youtu.be/00bQlnPxosw
Season 7. Sammy Jo hangs in but ... who *are* most of these people?
Hear the announcer call it "De Nasty"
http://youtu.be/MKFuaJ-5IYg
Season 8! It's the UFO!!! Sammy Jo goes swimming!
http://youtu.be/MKFuaJ-5IYg
Season 9, the final season. Archived by people pointing video cameras
at CRTs. Linda Evans is gone. Heather goes to bed! The Doctor from
SeaQuest DSV (the 'DSV' stands for: SeaQuest!!!) comes aboard! And
damn near everybody else leaves.
http://youtu.be/r9szqNBLCz4
Season 10. Wait, what??? It's the secret extra season only shown in
metric countries! There's Sammy Jo! And Morgan Fairchild!!
http://youtu.be/dt_GxnN7lEk
Dynasty 2015! What the Hell?!?!?!?
http://youtu.be/LopmGhCG1Ds
DYNASTY '69 - THE PREQUEL! Bette Davis *is* Fah Lo Suee!
http://youtu.be/w3a8OwyD5xY

And OMG OMG OMG it's the Ultimate Dynasty Opening!!!!!!!
http://youtu.be/MfIibAt5SOk
Glamorous Heather Locklear, cheesecake Heather Locklear rolling around
a bed. Not seeing where she needs padding.
I like the representative image of one of the guys, sitting in the back
of the limousine with a pair of young, sexy legs on his lap.
Ali MacGraw guest starred.
"special guest star" himself.
And there's Joan Collins in all her glory.
Ooops!! [screeching halt] ...

a horribly smug guy who plays Italian ethnics but doesn't look Italian
Adrian Zmead was the hot man who was totally Italian, or maybe some kinda
Spanish.
His last name being Zmed is one clue that he's neither Italian nor Spanish.
Whoosh!

Hah! I never saw that. Thanks.

Actually, I thought he was Greek, or somewhere close.
It's Romanian, which I never guessed as the name didn't end in "eau".
He was in Sharknado 4, but I thought he was Denny Terrio.

Yeah, that's why that one looks bad. First season Angel David could
have pulled it off. Now he just looks like TJ Hooker.

DENNY TERRIO!

Actually I know next to nothing about him, but had a friend in high school
who was into him.

On the rare occasion, though, a show hits and hits big, and becomes
the new subject of water-cooler talk for millions of Americans. It¹s
not often that a ³Walking Dead² or ³Game of Thrones² comes along, but
with the sheer number of shows that debut every year, it¹s always a
possibility. Here's a look at three new fall shows that you may want
to keep an eye on and check out when they debut.
SEAL Team and The Brave
<Put me in a dress and call me nancey but I have zero interest in
these two.>
Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders
<You can not be serious.>
So what's the third show, for those of us who don't want to click on the
link? If you're going to summarize, do all of them.
1) SEAL TEAM
I like David Boreanaz, but he looks just ridiculous in the promos.

Good call. I mean, he's 48 now.

48 is probably his suit size, too.

+1. The thread title should have been 'three new shows not to watch

I can't imagine that either "SEAL Team" or "The Brave" will be as bad
as "Six" was... :/

That is an apt comparison, but I think you vastly underestimate the
potential to get worse.

Seal Team sounds just like The Unit which I did enjoy in it's first few
seasons. It wasn't exactly must see TV though.

Haven't you heard? You're not supposed to include commas before the
last item in lists any more. Just another way the OED is literally
decimating the English language.
