I like him. The charges sound as fake as they can get.

He was all for freedom, I think.

I don't like him. I think some of what he did is good,
and some is bad. I don't know if he committed sex
offences but I wouldn't introduce him to my sister.
Ecuador is protecting his liberty to highlight the
hypocrisy of the United States. That looks like a
life sentence.

I think President Trump should give Julian Assange
a pardon and some medal or other, like a Nobel Peace
Prize nomination; there might not be a President Trump
without Assange. And it's pardoning season, and
Muhammad Ali posthumously refused one, so there's
a gap in Donald Trump's mind.

One of many.

Trump can't pardon Assange, because if there is any truth
to the child-sex allegations it would do huge political
damage with his base. He can't risk it.

And he's dead, so so what?

Donald Trump pardoning Muhammad Ali would be entirely
about Donald Trump.

Donald Trump refusing to pardon Muhammad Ali would be
entirely about Donald Trump. And probably a little bit
about Muhammad Ali turning out to be Muslim. Who knew.

As it is, a dead guy has still pulled off the classic
"rope-a-dope" once more.

There are no child-sex allegations against Assange. He was accused of
raping an adult. That charge has now been dropped.

I have no reason to like him. I think he did some good things even if
I suspect his motives for doing so were less than stellar.

I have no idea if he committed any sex offence and that may just be a
smear campaign. Why is Ecuador protecting him? Because he needs it,
and because they can.

The Western nations don't really like Democracy and Justice.... Law without morale is useless but they dished Christianity which was supposed to provide the morale.

"WELCOME TO YE OLD POPE'S FAMILY DINER, MY SON. HOW MAY WE
SERVE YOU TODAY?"

Hmm...

Lemme see...

I'll have the christianity with extra gravy,

a side of adam's rib,

and, uh...

hmmmm....

hows about a slice of the twelve layered apostle rainbow
cake with a dollop of jesus brand low fat cream on top.

"AND WHAT TO DRINK, MY SON?"

Uh, I'll take a large cup of holy water. If you got it. *wink*

"AND WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR WATER WITH OR WITHOUT A SHOT OF
POPE BRAND SEMINAL FLUID?"

Is the seminal fluid an extra charge?

"I'M AFRAID SO, MY SON. YOU CAN CHOOSE FROM OUR HOUSE BLEND
FOR $1.00 A SHOT. OR THE VINTAGE LINE WHICH IS $5.00 A SHOT.
THE VINTAGE LINE ALSO INCLUDES ONE ALL NIGHT TICKET TO THE
RECTORY."

In that case, i'll take the unmolested water, thank you.

"ANYTHING ELSE, MY SON?"

No, i believe that'll do it. But i do have one more "tiny"
request.

"YES, MY SON?"

Could you make my order to go? I'm kinda in a hurry you see.

Never understood the uproar over Asange.

The sex offense has been withdrawn and none of the info leaked by Manning did anything to harm the US or its spies.

It did embarrass some agencies but it was good info that harmed nothing.

He might be a candidate for one of those "Doesn't play well with others" shirts, but IMO he's not dangerous.

YMMV

eggsactly

We can't say he didn't harm the US spies, but he did embarrass a few
diplomats. (professional liars IMO) When you consider that
Tele-Trumpie freely invites Russians into the White House and gives
them classified info., Asange seems like small potatoes.

This is the government, and of course the "leaked" secret report would
call it insignificant even if it wasn't...

Not sure if I'd be more sceptical of one that says no problem or one that said there were problems considering how much the Obama administration hated Manning.

I suppose I'd go with your idea since I haven't trusted the government to be truthful since JFK was in office.

It's funny to think how out of the Democratic party mainstream JFK would be today.

Me, I'm not usually a fan of conspiracy theories but I actually think the Manning leaks did quite a bit of good for the US establishment. The diplomatic stuff made America look like a grown-up forced to deal with fractious children.

Which makes me wonder if it was such an accident.

American ambassadors mainly are people who did
a favour for the new president. It's just how it's
done - there. Competence in the role isn't relevant.

So when the ambassador writes home that everyone in the
country where they represent America are jerks, I don't
take their word for it.
